| Replica vessels were made from local clay by José Sosa, a potter from Piura. The pots were dried for several weeks in the shade. On the day of the test firing they were additionally dried during the preheating of the kiln. Balls of local clay were covering the tips of the thermocouples. In this way an average temperature could be measured during the firing. The clay material was later studied in the laboratory. | ||
